“All scripture is inspired by God and is
profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for
correcting, for training in righteousness, so
that the man of God may be complete,
equipped for every good work.”
2 Tim 3:16-17
On the day after Christmas at Radio Shack
we experienced many desperate pleas for
help: “We can’t get our _____ to work!” In
response our first question was: “Have you
read the instructions?” Would you believe
most had not? They could have enjoyed
their new “toy” if they had just taken the
time to read basic instructions. (Back in
those days they were a few pages and only
written in English!)
The Bible is God’s Word. He is our creator.
He knows exactly how we were put together
and how we should function. Duh! Wouldn’t
it make sense for us to read His instructions
for life? Someone made an acrostic of Bible:
Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
The Bible speaks to all of life’s issues.
That’s why it continues to be a #1 best seller
year and after year. Though written
hundreds of years ago, this book has stood
the test of time because it is like no other
book: “For the word of God is living and
effective, and sharper than any double-
edged sword.” Hebrews 4:12
His word gives us life direction: “Your word
is a lamp for my feet and a light for my
path.” Psalm 119:105
The Lord created us with a perfect plan and
purpose for each of us. He infused us with
the gifts and talents we would require to
complete His works: “For we are His
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for
good works, which God prepared ahead of
time for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Reading the Bible and meditating on the
word of God, His instruction manual, will
guide us and teach us how to cope with all
the challenges of life. Read the verse above
slowly and contemplate its true meaning.
His word is God’s gift to us. That we might
know Him better and be able to determine
His will for our lives. We read His word for
education (knowing more about this life) but
also for transformation: “Be transformed by
the renewing of your mind, so that you may
discern what is the good, pleasing, and
perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2
If you will commit to reading the Bible, the
living word of God, for the next thirty days,
you will experience life change! The Gospel
of John is a great place to start. That 15-20
minutes a day will change your life.
Learn to enjoy the gift of life God provided
by reading the instructions!
Blessed by you…Bro. Sherman
