“You will be My witnesses….” Acts 1:8

Why is it when we hear the word “witness”
we have images in our mind of sharing the
four-spiritual-laws, the Gospel, our personal
testimony, or reciting some scripture from
memory to a lost person? Yes, those times
should be a part of our life in Christ. But
there is a witness that is just as important:
How we live our daily lives.

Whether we realize it or not we are
witnesses everywhere we go. In all our
interactions with others we are witnesses.
Every contact we have with the teller at the
bank, our doctor, a waitress, the mechanic,
the cashier, or the Walmart greeter is an
opportunity to witness. We witness the love
of Christ simply by being Jesus to others. By
demonstrating the fruit of the Spirit: love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

How do we do that? Bring joy into your
daily life. Respond to your bank teller’s
“how can I help you?” with, “Yes, I’d like
two egg muffins and a hashbrown please!”
Make her laugh and smile! Try greeting the
Walmart greeter with a smile!

We need to be much better at being the “salt
& light” that God called us to be. Make it
fun and make it a habit to be a blessing to
others. It is so simple and so easy. That
favorite restaurant you frequent is a great
place to start. You should know the names
of your waiters and waitresses.

There is something you need to know about
all of them. THEY NEED PRAYER! They
need to know someone cares enough about
them that we would pray. Learn their names,
show some interest in their lives, and watch
for God to open opportunities. If you ask,
they will give you things to pray for them.
Then do it right there and then! Grab their
hand and pray, right in front of God and
everyone! Make their day! And yours!

The server came to my table recently with
the food we had ordered. Placing the food
before us she asked, “Is there anything else I
can get for you?” She had been friendly and
nice, but I noticed a distinct difference when
I responded with, “Yes, I need to know your
name!” Her name was Ashley, and we had a
special connection thereafter. So easy to let
someone know you care enough!

Be a witness everywhere you go! We can
make a difference! Just be Jesus!

Blessed by you….Bro. Sherman
