“The prayer of a righteous person is very
powerful in its effect.” James 5:16
An angel sent by God told Zechariah, “Your
prayer has been heard.” (Luke 1:13) The
centurion Cornelius heard confirmation from
the Lord: “Your prayers…have ascended as
a memorial offering before God.” (Acts
10:4) Prayer is something we do by faith.
For we do not always see the results. We can
be assured though, that prayers made in faith
are always heard. God hears and He also
responds. We don’t often see the results
because we are looking for a particular
result and God answers differently. We tend
to miss it. Be confident is this: God hears!
I am reminded of Paul’s testimony to the
Philippian church: “I give thanks to my God
for every remembrance of you, always
praying with joy for all of you in my every
prayer, because of your partnership in the
gospel from the first day until now.”
Phil 1:3-5
From the very beginning of Christy’s
challenge with cancer we felt the prayer of
all the saints calling out to God on our
behalf. Sometimes it was the peace of God
overwhelming us when the prognosis was
not good. Even when the words “uncurable”
were spoken we did not feel defeated or
discouraged for we knew God was
ultimately in control…always. We trusted
each day He would reveal Himself in some
way. And He did over and over again.
We had the best doctors at just the right
time. We were given the best nurses, the
most caring people everywhere we went.
We were strengthened, encouraged, and
amazed almost daily by the Lord’s
provision. We felt blessed because we knew
so many were praying for us unceasingly. It
brought us great joy knowing many only
knew us by name but were faithfully praying
for us! To all who so faithful I say THANK
YOU! Your prayers were heard!
We gave God thanks every day for the
phone calls, the text messages, the emails,
the cards (hundreds of cards!), gift cards (we
always could eat!), and offers to do
whatever was needed. Prayer was the best
gift of all. We needed God’s presence,
God’s provision, and God’s peace…which
all came because of the prayers of God’s
children, the righteous! God is so gracious!
Thank YOU, Lord for your faithful servants!
Truly, the best gift we can give one another
is sincere faithful prayer for one another.
Please don’t stop! God hears and responds
to faithful prayer. Christy and I will give
testimony!
