“Yet you do not know what tomorrow will
bring – what your will be! For you are like
a vapor that appears for a little while, then
vanishes.” James 4:14

Have plans for tomorrow? What if tomorrow
never comes? What if God called you home
tonight? Anything you wish you would have
accomplished today instead of putting it off?

A friend of mine wished he had visited
Christy before she passed. He will get his
wish. He passed last Sunday night and gets
to visit Christy in heaven. What have we
allowed to become a priority that truly isn’t
and missed the chance to say, “I love you!”

Years ago, I visited a fifty-four-year-old
man dying of cancer. He had some regrets.
He wished he had spent more time with his
grandkids. His hobby was refurbishing old
cars. In his four-car garage were some real
beauties he had restored. The overtime he
worked paid for the hobby. But it cost him
dearly now that his life had cut short his
plans.

No one I have ever visited in their last
moments of life has ever said, I wish I had
spent more time at the office. Everyone has
only had the wish they had spent more time
with those they loved. Every minute counts.
Every moment is a precious gift of God that
we should consciously spend like money:
sparingly. It goes so quickly.

Remember the thrill of holding that special
someone’s hand for the very first time?
What happened? Did it become such a
common thing that we have forgotten to feel
the warmth of the touch? Or is holding
hands a thing of the past? It does not have to
be. We can make it new and exciting again.
If we only consciously make it so.

Remember the first time you drove a car?
You felt the steering wheel, smelled the car,
rejoiced at the thrill of driving. What
happened? Try walking twenty miles! It will
restore your appreciation for driving once
again. Feel the steering wheel…enjoy the
car smell…the ride…the movement. Rejoice
that you are not walking instead. Enjoy the
moment! Each and every one!

Remember… you are like a vapor that
appears for a little while, then vanishes.”
Take advantage of every single day. Every
moment. Surprise someone you love. Sit
with them, hold their hand, look into their
eyes, and say, “Gosh, I love you!” Make
their day. There may not be a tomorrow.

every day….
