My Thoughts on Proverbs 7:
In the NKJV Verse 2 reads as follows: Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. The father is saying to the son, practice my teachings in order that you will have a good life. This is the idea of abundant life, not materially rich, but a life of peace without the chaos, trauma, and drama. The ultimate life of peace begins with a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Remember Jesus said: I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10).
The expression the apple of you eye refers to the eye’s pupil where the object focused on it reflected. So the father is saying, focus on my teachings so they may be reflected in your life.
My Prayer:
Holy Heavenly,
We grow weary of the pandemic. We grow weary of “shelter-in-place.” We grieve for the suffering the pandemic has caused physically, emotionally, mentally, and economically. Just end it Lord. End it in such a way that no one can deny it was You and not man that ended it.
Lord, we pray for our leaders that they would exemplify wisdom and understanding.
Father God, I pray for my church and family not only for their protection, but that they would keep Your teachings and reflect that learning in their lives, that they would be an example to those who are not believers.
We thank You that You loved us so much You sent Your Son that we might have a redeem life in relationship with You. And, live we abundant life at peace with You and in peace with others.
We love You and we pray all these things in Jesus name. Amen.

May / Proverbs 7
I am left with questions after reading this chapter. At first it seems to not apply to me at all. But then…
Where am I not listening?
Where am I unwise?
Where have I put myself that is a dangerous place with temptations?
What is it that seduces me?
I’ve been disturbed by what many believers have been reposting on social media. This has long been a concern, but it has escalated along with everything else right now. I watch friends who I know are sweet Christians “seduced” by posts that match their thoughts, hopes, and fears. Then they repost without validating the truth of it.
These posts aren’t always political, sometimes they are a lost child… that was found 2 years ago. Please! We are called to be humble, not gullible. Check dates, check the authority of the one writing, check the Internet for validation, check one of the fact checking sites… or better yet, if it isn’t your “news” don’t repost it! And if you find out something you posted was wrong, DELETE IT!
My main concern?
We discredit our message of Christ when we do this… and “the world” will rightfully mock and dismiss us.
I pray today not to be seduced by misinformation.
I pray that those in leadership are not seduced by misinformation.
I pray our church is not swayed or damaged through misinformation.
I pray God would renew a spirit of discernment in us all.
I pray nothing I do or say on social media will cause another to stumble.
