My Thoughts on Proverbs 29:
Today the verse that really spoke to me was Verse 25: Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. Yesterday on social, I saw a clip of woman in a grocery store without a facemask. People with facemasks surrounded her screaming obscenities until fled leaving her grocery cart. It was a prime example of what this verse is saying. Fear drove those people to overreact. They all had facemasks; they were protected as far as what I understand from the science. The reason trusting in the Lord is safe is not because He guarantees we won’t face physical harm but because He cares for the eternal soul.
My Prayer:
Holy Heavenly Father:
Scenes like I witnessed yesterday, just reinforce my desire for this pandemic to end. Even after 3 months there is still so much fear and fear-mongering. Please God end the pandemic, we grow weary. We mourn those that have been lost, we repent of our anger towards those we use the crisis for their own gain. We long to worship You together again. Lord, end it, please.
Verse 15 says: To discipline a child produces wisdom. The way to discipline and raise children is passed from one generation to the next in families. So many families are dysfunctional and children lack discipline because of it. God, I pray for the families I know, those that I’m related and those I just know. Guide them as they face new challenges and pressures because of he pandemic. Show me how I may minister to them during this crisis.
Verse2 says: When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan. The pandemic has revealed how many ungodly leaders we have in this nation Lord. We do groan under their often time ill-conceived and corrupt directives that seem to for political gain and not to the benefit of the people. Convict them Lord of their wrongdoing. Give them your wisdom and wisdom to those who advise them. God gives us strength to endure their administration.
Verse 6 reads: Evil people are trapped by sin, but the righteous escape, shouting for joy. This verse reminds me, Lord so many are trapped in sin and without hope or peace. I pray that you give me and my congregation opportunities to share the Gospel.
I pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.
