My Thoughts on Proverbs 20:
Verse 27: The Lord’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive is very powerful. We can hid things especially our motives from one another and even ourselves. But, nothing is hidden from God. What we need to understand is every sin we commit effects our relationship with God. Psalm 66:18 tells us: If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. God cannot abide sin. However, the Bible tells us: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
My Prayer:
Holy Heavenly Father:
Today I am weary of the pandemic. I am worried about the economic devastation. I mourn for those that died and suffer from Covid. I am angry about how the pandemic has been politicized. But, God I take comfort in verse 24: The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way? God, I admit there is a lot going on that I don’t understand, but that’s okay. You are sovereign. I trust You and I pray that You end the pandemic.
Verse 11 speaks of children, Lord. It reminds of my own children and I pray your protection over them. It also reminds me that I am a child and ask that protect my vulnerable 80-year father from this disease.
When I read verse 18: Plans succeed through good counsel; don’t go to war without wise advice. I am reminded to pray for not only our political leaders, but leaders in my church as we make plans to reopen the church. Give us your wisdom, Lord.
Lord as I pray for revival and awakening, Lord, I pray verse 12: Ears to hear and eyes to see, both are gifts from the Lord. Give believers Your eyes, God. Let us see people the way You do. Give us eyes to see how You are already working around us and give us bold faith to join You where You are working. At the same time Lord, I pray for non-believers that You would give them ears to hear the Gospel and eyes to see You at work even in the pandemic.
I pray all these things in Jesus, name.
Amen.
