Prayer Challenge Day 13

May 13, 2020 By Rob Cleeton Leave a Comment

May 13

My Thoughts on Proverbs 13:

Chapter 13 is a continuation of Solomon’s wise sayings that deal with numerous topics, but mostly with the consequences of right and wrong behavior and wise and foolish actions. So today as I read this chapter I just let it lead me to pray.

My Prayer:

Holy Heavenly Father:

Once again as part of this challenge I pray for the pandemic to end. I pray for a cure. I pray an end to the isolation of shelter-in-place. We grow weary Lord of it, Lord. Solomon wrote in Verse 12: Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. People can bear frustration only so long, Lord. We need Your encouragement to continue, to endure. Lord, I just echo the words of David, And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. (Psalm 39:7).

Father God, I pray for my local leaders, the leaders of my state and the leaders of our nation. I think of these leaders as I read Verse 15: Good sense wins favor, but the way of the treacherous is their ruin. Lord, I pray that You give and that our leaders practice good sense during this time of crisis. I pray that none use this pandemic for treacherous gain.

Lord as I pray for my family, friends and church, I read Verse 20: Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Lord, I just pray that my children and grandchildren walk with the wise. I pray that You protect them from foolish companions.

As I read Verse 13: Whoever despises the word brings destruction on himself, but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded. I think of my church and ask that You revive us Lord. That we wisely use this time of shelter-in-place to rediscover Your Word. That we would repent of those times we have broken Your commandments and beg Your forgiveness. Reignite in us Lord, an overwhelming desire to live out the gospel.

And, lastly Lord, I pray for the lost. Those who don’t have a relationship with You. I read Verse 21: Disaster pursues sinners, but the righteous are rewarded with good. It breaks my heart that those that don’t have a redeemed relationship with You have such chaotic lives. Lord, I know my life was full of drama, trauma and chaos without You. I just pray that You use this pandemic to awaken the lost to gospel. That many will come into relationship with You.

I pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.
