Prayer Challeng Day 19

May 19, 2020 By Rob Cleeton Leave a Comment

May 19

My Thoughts on Proverbs 19:

The verse that spoke to my heart today was verse 16: Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death. So many people think that being a Christian is about keeping rules. It’s not. It’s about a reconciled relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Christians should keep the commandments because as Solomon writes it helps us keep our life, the abundant life of being in eternal relationship with God. Keeping the commandments keeps me close to God. The first 5 commandments of the 10 Commandments concern our relationship with God. The last 5 concern our relationship with our fellow man. When I follow the commandment, honor the Sabbath and keep it holy, my life is improved physically from the rest and mentally and spiritually because I have connected to God on a deeper level. Not bearing false witness makes my life better because no one wants to be around a liar. Ultimately its about a relationship not rules.

My Prayer:

Lord, God:

I pray and lament over this pandemic. I am weary of the shelter-in-place orders and long for them to be lifted. Dear God, end this pandemic.

Lord I pray verse 23 over my friends and family: Fear of the Lord leads to life, bringing security and protection from harm.

I pray verse 20 over our leaders, Lord: Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life.

Verse 21: You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail, reminds me of my church  Lord, as we plan to reopen. May Your purpose prevail in our planning. It is my belief, Lord that You have a purpose even in this pandemic to draw people to You. And, I pray for those who I know who aren’t Believers. I pray that You soften their hearts to the Gospel and that You give me opportunities to boldly proclaim the Gospel.

I pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.
