“If anyone thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue, his religion is useless, and he deceives himself.”                                                                                James 1:26

Recently I began receiving an online news and commentary from Reason.com. I read only portions of it until the editor-in-chief used offensively foul language in his commentary. Delete, send to spam.

Foul language, cussing, any offensive speech should have no place in business, or professional world, or TV news cast. But it has become increasingly present in recent years. We shouldn’t tolerate it! It demonstrates a gross lack of intelligence.

It is hard for me to understand why the chief editor would find it necessary to use such a discussing foul word to make a point. But I am even more disturbed when I hear my brothers or sisters in Christ do the same thing. We are to be in the world but not of the world. Influencers not participators. Foul language has no place in the Chrisian life.

Have some forgotten who they are supposed to exemplify? “Speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head – Christ.”                                                                      Eph 3:15

“No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear. And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit.

Let all bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander be removed from you, along with all malice.”                                                                                                                                            Eph 3:29-31

Jesus never found it necessary to use foul language even in His anger or frustration. Neither should we. We are to be set apart from the world, leading others to Christ. Abusive language will never impress anyone. If anything, it will be a deterrent. Set your heart to be like Jesus! Point people to God.

“If anyone thinks he is religious without controlling his tongue, his religion is useless, and he deceives himself.”

Blessed by you…Bro. Sherman
