“The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son, does not have the life.”                                                                                                                                           1 John 5:12

The apostle John did not have our physical life in mind but our spiritual life. Jesus was clear about the difference between the two.

“Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.”          John 3:6

“Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”      John 3:3

We are born of the Spirit when we recognize we are estranged – separated – from God because of our sin – our disobedience to God’s commands. Here in is the truth we must all come to know and believe:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”                                                   Romans 3:23

“If we say, “We have no sin, we are (only) deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”” Emphasis added.                                                                                                                        1 John 1:8

Still not convinced? Consider this command of God and whether you could stand before God and plead your case. Commandment #4 of the Ten Commandments:

“Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.”                                                                       Exodus 20:8

Since the resurrection of Jesus, the Sabbath has been celebrated on Sunday. To keep it holy means not to work but honor God!

We honor God by worshipping Him in spirit and in truth each week. We deliberately set apart this day to rest and focus on the Lord God. Have you made this a priority in your life?

Take this challenge and review the other nine commandments if you still believe you have no fear before God.                                                                                                                               Exodus 20:1-17

This life with the Son is what Jesus was speaking of when He said:

“I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.”                                  John 10:10

This life was so important for us that Jesus was willing to give His life for us to receive it! He died to give us life with God!

This LIFE Jesus came to provide for us is a spiritual life with God. Our flesh (physical) body will die but our spirit goes on in the afterlife either eternally separated from God or eternally with God in heaven. This life in heaven is a gift of God we must choose to accept. It does not come automatically.

“For the wages of sin is death (spiritual death), but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord!”                                                                                                                                      Romans 6:23

The Good News is eternal life begins here the moment you accept the gift of His Son Jesus. Jesus is God with Us!

Will you accept the Gift of God?

Blessed by you… Bro. Sherman
