I have what I need. Psalm 23:1b
In the Model prayer our Lord taught us to
pray: “Give us today our daily bread.”
Mt. 6:11

We are to trust God for our daily needs.
Jesus also said; “Don’t worry about what
you will eat or what you will drink; or about
your body, what you will wear…but seek
first the Kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things will be
provided for you.” Mt. 6:25, 33

Worry and anxiety are distractions that draw
us away from what ought to be our focus:
serving God. How can we “seek first” His
Kingdom and His righteousness if our needs
(our kingdom) are constantly in view? To
trust means we believe in faith: “I have what
I need.” Even if it is not in the bank yet. Or
on the table yet. As the writer of Hebrews
explained: “Faith is being sure of what we
hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1

Most of us need to take these words to heart:
“I have what I need.”
Repeat this phrase to yourself several times.
Meditate on them. Think about this truth. I
have what I need. You have what you need.
If you are like me, you go to the grocery
store more than once a week. Truth is, I
have enough food in my cabinets and in my
freezer to eat for a week or two. I go to the
store not to buy what I need but what I want!
What I think I need is a frozen pizza, ice-

cream or chocolate! I would do well to cook
the frozen pork chop, salad and the can of
beets that’s been in my cabinet for three
months. But that’s not near as fun as going
to Schnuck’s hoping to run into someone I
know.

Paul wrote to the Philippian church: “My
God will supply all your needs according to
His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Phil 4:19

“The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I
need.” Psalm 23:1

My God keeps His promises. He has
promised to provide for all of my needs. He
has proven faithful for many years. I know I
can trust Him. He is all that I want.
What God has proven to me; He will also
prove to you. Trust Him for all your needs.
Blessed by you….Bro. Sherman
