“Whatever you do in word or in deed, do
everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks through Him to God the
Father.” Colossians 3:17

Be the first say, Merry Christmas! Where
ever you go! Don’t settle for Happy
Holidays. This is Christmas after all. Should
be a favorite holiday for us as Christians.
We need to be helping our world keep
focused on the true meaning of this season.

This is a wonderful time of year for us to be
the salt and light to a world turning further
and further away from the Lord our God.
We need to do our very best to keep the
focus of this season on the amazing gift of
God’s love provided in Christ Jesus. To do
that we will need to begin with ourselves.
It is too easy to get caught up in all the
things we feel like we “need to do” to
celebrate Christmas. With reluctance we
drag out all the decorations, more stuff than
we need or use, and try to get ourselves into
the spirit of things. We begin thinking about
the gifts we “need” to buy and the cards we
need to send. Plans are made for where we
will celebrate Christmas dinner, what will
we eat this year and who will be with us.
This is all well and good but is this really
what should occupy our minds and hearts at
Christmas? We must change our perspective
from what we “have to do” to what we “get
to do”! We’re celebrating the birthday of
our Savior Jesus! Let the festivities begin!

We celebrate the birth of Christ by sharing
gifts with one another. Yet, it is His birthday
after all. Have we considered what we might
give to Him? We may not be able buy Him a
tangible gift but as we minister to others by
our excitement about Christmas:
“Truly I say to you, to the extent that you
did it for one of the least of these of these
brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for
Me!” Matthew 25:40

How can we expect the world to keep the
true meaning of Christmas focused on Christ
Jesus, if as His followers we are not? Are we
not His ambassadors? “We are ambassadors
for Christ, as though God were making an
appeal through us.” 2 Cor 5:20

Want to make this a special Christmas
season for yourself and others? You know,
excitement breeds excitement! Be
determined to be a Merry Christmas bearer!
Yes, we have so much to do! Keep the focus
on Christ by doing: “whatever you do in
word or in deed, do everything in the name
of the Lord Jesus!”

As you shop for gifts, don’t hesitate to share
a joyful Merry Christmas wherever you go.
Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than
receive.” Acts 20:35

Don’t hesitate to share the greatest gift ever
given…Christ Jesus! And make it a Merry
Christmas!

Blessed by you…Bro. Sherman
