“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.” Phil 3:13-14
In just a few days we enter into the new year – 2025. We could passively slide into it without thinking and keep doing what we have always been doing. Life would go on. If, however, we have thoughts of changing things in our life, the first of the year is a perfect time to make those changes. As someone has said: If you want things in your life to change, you need to change some things in your life!
We all are given 1440 minutes a day. Yet some people are much more productive with their minutes than we are. Most of us are more frugal with our money than with our time. Money can be replaced but time cannot. A minute lost is lost forever. We can’t store up time nor save it. Time waits for no one.
Therefore, one immediate goal might be to evaluate how we use our time. Identifying our time wasters is a good first step. Adding something new to our already busy schedule will require giving up something else. Many of us could free up lots of time by simply refraining from looking at our cell phone. One would be amazed at how much time we could save by giving up just that one practice.
After identifying your time wasters, it’s time to determine what you would like to accomplish instead. Though it may sound counterintuitive, making time for God is very productive. Reading the Bible is spending time with the Lord. We read not for information but for transformation. The Word changes us from the inside.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Prov 9:10
Have you ever noticed Jesus was never in a hurry? He looked at disgust what was going on in the temple but waited till the next day to make changes. He delayed going to see Lazarus for three days. Jesus accomplished much, yet He often spent the night on the mountain fellowshipping with the Father in prayer. Time with God is never wasted time. In fact, taking our burdens to the Lord brings us the peace we so desperately need.
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7
I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.”
Blessed by you…Bro. Sherman
