Matthew 6:3-4: But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.
As followers of Jesus are giving should be prompted by compassion and obedience. Remember, God expects us to love our neighbor as we do ourselves. As John MacArthur writes: “The most satisfying giving, and the giving that God blesses, is that which is done and forgotten. It is done in love out of response to a need, and when the need is met the giver goes on about his business, not waiting for or wanting recognition.”
Let’s Pray:
Father God,
We thank You this day for the clarity of Your Word. Help us to remember all men are our neighbor and move us to help them with compassion. Help us understand the most charitable deed we can do for our fellow man is share the Gospel.
Thank you for loving us.
We pray these things in Jesus name, amen.
