Giving Thanks Day 20

November 20, 2020 By Rob Cleeton Leave a Comment

Deuteronomy 16:17:  Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

As Merrill points out each is to bring a gift to the Lord in proportion to the way the God has blessed you. This connects the vertical giving and grateful tribute of a covenant people to God for His blessing with the horizontal giving to our fellow man in need.

Proper stewardship then is responding generously to the goodness of God and recognizing that it the blessing come from Him.

Let’s pray:

Lord,

I thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon me, a roof over my head, food in my belly and the love of my family. I am rich beyond measure. Forgive me when I don’t share the bounty you have provided like I should. I know everything good comes from You.

I thank you for the reconciled relationship made possible by the blood of Jesus Christ. I ask for opportunities to share the hope I have.

I pray these things in Jesus name, amen.
