Giving Thanks Day 2

November 3, 2020 By Church Login Leave a Comment

Philippians 4:6: Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

This is an oft quoted verse in these days of pandemic, political unrest, and panic. Paul is right there is nothing to worry about if you have relationship with God through Jesus Christ and you talk with him every day.

What I like about this verse is the word petition. It is much like a political petition that you are asked to sign to get an issue on the ballot.  But, it doesn’t mean a list of demands that we turn over to God for Him to take care of. It means here are the issues I care about God, I care about them so much that I’ve enlisted other believers to pray about them too.

Also notice the word thanksgiving. We should be thankful because God made a way for sinful man to be reconciled back into a love relationship with Him by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. And, if you are believer your prayers and petitions are heard by a Holy God.

Let’s pray:

Oh Holy Heavenly Father,

We come to you a worried people. We worry about Covid, we worry about the election, we worry about the economy, we worry. Father, forgive us. Strength our faith so we won’t fear. Hear our petitions as we cry out to you. Give us the peace of your presence as we meditate upon your Word today.

We pray in Jesus name. Amen.
