Micah 6:8: He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah tell us what God expects from His people. First, to act justly. God is a God justice. We don’t live in a just world and injustice is all around us. As Christians God expects us to act justly with everyone.
Second, God expects us to freely and willingly show kindness to others. Some verses use the mercy instead of kindness, but the idea is the same. Remember the story of the Good Samaritan, who showed mercy and kindness to the injured Jew, someone he normally wouldn’t have gotten along with. God expects the same from us.
Lastly, we are and to walk humbly with your God. We are to live in conscious fellowship with God ever mindful that relationship is blood-bought by Jesus Christ and that we are servant and He is master.
If we could live like Micah suggests, our lives would be a testimony to a lost and Godless, unmerciful and unjust world. We are the voice of hope.
Let’s pray:
Our Heavenly Father:
We thank You for Jesus, for it is only through him that we can come before your throne of grace in times of trouble asking for mercy and help. We live in a time of chaos, injustice with mercilessness. Lord, help us be the example of what it means to walk with You. To live out the Biblical principles of justice and loving kindness and humility. Give us opportunities to share the hope we have in our relationship with You.
In Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
